The Optional Program has a longstanding legacy of excellence in Shelby County. Cummings K- 8 Optional offers an Enriched Academics program that focuses highly on math. Our school provides creative and rigorous coursework and extra-curricular programs led by teachers who inspire and challenge high-performing students to achieve their best.

We are a Dm3 (developing masterful mathematical minds) math focused optional school, and are uniquely situated near LeMoyne Owen College. Cummings K-8 Optional can be considered a Pre-K through college school. We are in a perfect location, and have a feeder pattern that frequently feeds students into neighboring high schools that offer our students college courses and credits while still in high school.
